Spencer Fane Continues to Expand Denver Office with Addition of Sellars, Heinrich to Real Estate Groups

Spencer Fane LLP is pleased to announce Joseph Sellars and Laura Heinrich have joined the firm’s Denver office. Sellars is a partner in the Real Estate Practice Group, while Heinrich is an associate in the Special Districts Practice Group.

“Joe and Laura share our commitment to providing effective and efficient legal services,” said Ron Fano, Office Managing Partner for Spencer Fane in Denver. “Spencer Fane understands the need to maintain an excellent working knowledge of recent developments in the real estate industry, including real estate development and the use of special districts as an efficient means to assist in such development, and apply that knowledge for the benefit of our clients. This is a wonderful opportunity for Spencer Fane to grow its bench and expand our ability to handle complex real estate transactions and development projects for our growing client base.”

Sellars focuses his practice on assisting commercial property owners, developers, sponsors and national homebuilders in efficiently closing transactions in industrial, office, retail, multifamily and mixed-use properties. He has extensive experience in representing national homebuilders in all aspects of residential and multifamily real estate developments and transactions. He negotiates, prepares and analyzes transaction documents, including purchase and sale contracts for acquisitions/dispositions, development, construction, cost-share agreements, commercial leases, ground leases, financial transaction documentation, land-banking transactions, and joint venture agreements, including LLC and partnership agreements.

After completing his undergraduate studies at Oklahoma State University, Sellars earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law. While in law school, he earned a master’s degree in regional and city planning, with an emphasis on zoning, land use, and development regulation at the University of Oklahoma. His master’s thesis focused on parcel assembly and other legal aspects of land readjustment as public-private partnerships to facilitate development.

Heinrich joins a dedicated group of attorneys that helps homebuilders, commercial property developers, municipalities and other governmental bodies form taxing districts in the creation, financing and ongoing maintenance of developments and community services. In addition, she guides the operation of services that might not exist without the financing from special districts.

Specifically, Heinrich’s experience includes representing special districts, municipalities and community associations. She also spent eight years as an attorney for large broker-dealer, giving her unique insight into financial matters beneficial to her clients.

Heinrich completed her undergraduate studies in business administration and marketing at Colorado State University and went on to earn her Juris Doctor at the University of Colorado Law School.
