Former Assistant U.S. Attorney Nick Bunch Joins Haynes Boone

Nick Bunch, a former federal prosecutor who tried more than 25 cases involving a wide variety of white-collar fraud, has joined Haynes and Boone, LLP as a partner in the White Collar and Government Investigations Practices.

During his 11 years at the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Texas in Dallas, Nick has served in multiple leadership roles, including a recent stint as Deputy Section Chief of the Fraud and Public Corruption Unit. His practice focused on the investigation, prosecution, and trial of sophisticated fraud cases, including healthcare fraud, securities fraud, bank fraud, public corruption, cybercrime and intellectual property matters, such as the theft of trade secrets.

Nick prepared and tried numerous complex cases and briefed and argued several appeals at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. As a Computer, Hacking, and IP (CHIP) attorney for six years, he provided counsel to other Assistant U.S. Attorneys on the collection of digital evidence, computer forensics, technology, and the Fourth Amendment.

“Nick’s front-line experience prosecuting the gamut of fraud matters will provide enormous value to our clients facing criminal investigations, enforcement matters and other litigation,” said Partner Kit Addleman, who chairs Haynes Boone’s Government Investigations and Securities Litigation Practice Group. “He has an insider’s view on how the government analyzes and approaches fraud investigations and on what it takes to resolve claims.”

Nick said he was drawn to Haynes Boone because of the strength and depth of its white-collar team. “I have long known and admired lawyers at the firm, including Kit, Ron Breaux and Stacy Brainin. When I decided to go into private practice, Haynes Boone was my clear first choice.”

Haynes Boone lawyers have a broad base of experience defending companies – or their executives and directors – from investigations involving securities fraud, antitrust violations, healthcare fraud, environmental fraud, False Claims Act, Qui Tam, and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

The firm draws on the collective experience of former high-ranking federal prosecutors, including both the former director and assistant director of the Southwest Region of the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice and the former director of the SEC’s Atlanta Regional Office. In March, Haynes Boone welcomed the former U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas, Ryan Patrick, as a partner in its White Collar and Government Investigations practices.
