Former Associate Circuit Court Judge Joseph L. Goff, Jr. Joins Armstrong Teasdale

Armstrong Teasdale announces the addition of Partner Joseph L. Goff, Jr., to the firm’s Litigation practice in St. Louis. Goff is former Associate Circuit Judge, Division III, for the 24th Judicial Circuit, which includes St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Madison and Washington Counties in Missouri. He is among more than 45 lawyers who have joined the firm in 2021 alone.

Goff was appointed to the bench in April 2015 and was re-elected in November 2016 and November 2018. While on the bench, Goff handled both civil and criminal cases, and adapted court procedures during the COVID-19 pandemic to continue operations, including conducting jury selection at alternate locations to adhere to Supreme Court guidelines.

“We are pleased to have Joe join our team of trial attorneys,” said Litigation Practice Group Leader Matt Reh.  “His experience on the bench will be invaluable to our clients and our litigation group.  His work as a prosecutor will certainly strengthen our compliance and internal investigation practices.”

In addition, Goff spent more than five years as Circuit Appointing Authority in the 24th Circuit Juvenile Office, where he was responsible for the 50-employee office including hiring, firing and discipline. Before that, he was Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. He also spent several years in private practice as a trial attorney handling personal injury and wrongful death cases. Goff further held the position of Assistant Attorney General in the Missouri Attorney General’s Office.

Goff’s work, both in private practice and on the bench, has provided him with an incredible depth of knowledge relating to the judicial process that translates to each client representation.
