Foley Hoag LLP has announced that healthcare lawyer and lobbyist Steven Stranne has joined the Federal Government Strategies and Healthcare practices as a partner in the Washington, D.C. office.

Stranne’s practice focuses on providing regulatory, legislative and strategic advice to medical device and drug manufacturers, healthcare associations, providers and patient groups. He has extensive experience on policy issues related to medical devices, medical equipment, drugs, biologics, robotics, preventive services, durable medical equipment, oncology, renal services and artificial intelligence. As part of his practice, he regularly advises clients on legislative policy developments on Medicare reimbursement matters including coverage, coding and payment for medical technologies.

"With over two decades of healthcare law and policy experience in Washington, D.C., Steve complements and enhances the extensive regulatory services provided to our healthcare and life sciences clients," said Foley Hoag Co-Managing Partner Jeffrey Collins. "His background as a physician and lawyer provides an additive skill set for clients investing in and developing novel technologies, and we are very happy to welcome Steve to the firm."

Stranne has a strong background in complex legislative and regulatory policy issues, and regularly represents healthcare clients on matters involving Congress, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and the Medicare Administrative Contractors.

"Foley Hoag has established itself as a leader in health policy, regulatory strategies, and advocacy involving the federal health agencies and Congress," Stranne noted. "I am happy to join a team of top-tier healthcare attorneys and policy advisors who can tackle the full scope of policy issues facing innovative medical technology companies and healthcare providers. My unique background and past experience will complement the outstanding health policy and health law teams that Foley Hoag has built."

Prior to joining Foley Hoag, Stranne was a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Polsinelli. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from Duke University; a Doctor of Medicine degree from Duke University Medical School; and a Juris Doctorate degree from Harvard Law School.
