Thomas, Thomas & Hafer, LLP Opens Richmond Office, Welcoming Patrick O’Grady & John Dunnigan into the Firm’s 12th Office

Thomas, Thomas & Hafer, LLP recently opened an office in Richmond, Virginia.  Joining the firm in Richmond are attorneys Patrick O’Grady and John Dunnigan.  O’Grady will lead the new office.  The Richmond office is the firm’s twelfth office firm-wide, its second office in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and its second new office opened in 2021.

Todd Narvol, the firm’s Chief Financial Partner, commented, “Opening an office in Richmond has been part of our strategic vision for years.  We primarily service the property and casualty insurance industry.  Virginia is one of the most popular states for our clients to underwrite risks in.  We dipped our toes into the Virginia market in March 2020 when we opened an office in northern Virginia in Fairfax, and we found a demand for our client-centric service model.  We are always looking for more efficient ways to serve our clients.  A Richmond office facilitates more efficient handling of claims in central, eastern, and western Virginia.  Additionally, Richmond is a hub for the property and casualty insurance carriers.  Thus, it was only natural for us to expand our geographic footprint there.”

Lacey U. Conn, who leads the firm’s Fairfax office, observed, “Our clients are going to be well served by Patrick and John.  I have handled cases with them in the past.  They are excellent attorneys, and they deepen our bench in a meaningful way.  Not only that, but they have spent their entire careers servicing property and casualty insurers, which is the industry that we focus on.  So, it is a natural fit.”

Patrick O’Grady has spent his career representing insurers and insureds in connection with various general liability matters, including automobile, premises liability, products liability, and wrongful death cases.  He is Martindale-Hubbell AV rated, has tried over 100 cases to verdict in courts throughout Virginia, and has handled appeals before the Virginia Supreme Court and the Fourth Circuit.  Patrick obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, and obtained his law degree, cum laude, from Mercer University, where he was inducted into the Order of the Barristers.  Patrick is active in the Richmond Claims Association, Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys, and Richmond Bar Association.  While in law school, Patrick worked as a judicial law clerk in the Arlington County Circuit Court.

John Dunnigan has likewise spent his career representing insurers and insureds in connection with personal injury matters.  Before entering private practice, John was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Beverly W. Snukals of the Circuit Court for the City of Richmond.  John received his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Virginia Commonwealth University, and obtained his law degree, cum laude, from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he served on the Moot Court Board and as the Manuscripts Editor on the Richmond Public Interest Law Review.  During law school, John also worked as a judicial extern for Judge Robert Krask on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.  John is the co-author of Personal Injury from A to Z: Damages Pt. 1 & 2, published by National Business Institute in September 2017, and the 2019-2020 edition of the Virginia Civil Benchbook for Judges and Lawyers.
