Squire Patton Boggs Continues Atlanta Expansion with Double Hire

Squire Patton Boggs has made a pair of hires in its Atlanta office in a continued expansion of its Southeast presence and legal service offering. Today, the firm announced that Murphy Talmadge has joined the firm’s Public Policy Practice and Yeshake (“Isaac”) Yilma has joined its Public and Infrastructure Finance Practice. They both join the firm as principal. With these additions, the firm’s Atlanta office now stands at 25 lawyers, and continues to be in growth-mode.

Atlanta Managing Partner Ann-Marie McGaughey commented, “Our bond practice and public policy practices both date back to the founding of our firm and are two of our historically preeminent areas of service. We could not be more excited for Murphy and Isaac to join the team. They will add local depth to our already stellar national credentials in these areas and expand upon the full-service offering we are building here in Atlanta.”

Mr. Talmadge joins the firm from Barnes & Thornburg where he was Director of State Government Affairs in its Atlanta office and worked with clients on issues ranging from public finance, real estate, public policy and general corporate matters.

Earlier in his career, he served as President and Managing Partner of a full-service public affairs, government relations, and campaign consulting firm, where he consulted on numerous federal, state, and local campaigns. He has also served as an advisor and political strategist to statewide elected officials, state legislators and local officials in Georgia.

Mr. Yilma joins the firm from Hunton Andrews Kurth and concentrates his practice on public finance transactions. Mr. Yilma adds strength to the firm’s national Public and Infrastructure Finance Practice. His addition expands the firm’s footprint in the Southeast and provides a local, on-the-ground presence in Georgia. He serves as bond counsel, disclosure counsel and underwriters’ counsel in connection with a broad range of publicly offered and privately placed tax-exempt and taxable financings for local governments, airports, water and sewer systems, tax increment/special assessment districts, sports facilities, colleges and universities, and multifamily housing facilities. He has served as bond counsel to some of the largest and most notable tax-exempt financings in Georgia.

Mr. Yilma also counsels local governments and private companies in connection with economic development incentives packages for new business investments and expansion projects.

These appointments mark the latest additions to the firm’s growing Atlanta office. In April, the firm added Greenberg Traurig shareholders Angela Ramson and David Long-Daniels, who was Co-Chair of the Labor & Employment Practice’s Complex Employment Litigation & Trials group. In early March, the firm hired former US Ambassador to Luxembourg and renowned jury trial lawyer J. Randolph Evans. The firm also recently hired five Atlanta-based associates into its product liability, labor and employment, litigation and corporate practices.
