Allen Matkins Welcomes Commercial Litigation and White Collar Criminal Defense Partner Kevin D. Lloyd

Allen Matkins, a California-based, full-service business and real estate law firm, announced today the addition of litigation partner Kevin D. Lloyd to its Los Angeles office. Kevin’s practice encompasses a broad range of commercial litigation and criminal defense matters, representing clients in matters involving federal and state securities laws, the duties of corporate officers and directors, intellectual property disputes, commercial disputes, contract disputes, labor and employment disputes, civil forfeiture actions, SEC enforcement actions, and criminal insider trading. He has significant trial and arbitration experience, including first chairing and leading large teams for multiple jury trials.

“Kevin’s vast experience in commercial litigation, having represented clients on a broad spectrum of complex and high profile matters, makes him a valuable addition to our dynamic litigation team,” says Allen Matkins partner Anthony J. Oliva, head of the firm’s Litigation Group. “His white collar criminal defense experience is yet another highlight of his practice that will expand the capacity of our litigation department.”

Over the past year, Kevin has had the opportunity to build his practice and assume strategic leadership over a wide range of disputes and litigation teams at a litigation boutique, after gaining significant experience in over a decade running trial teams at a large international law firm. Kevin looks forward to joining the Allen Matkins litigation team and to working with the firm’s real estate and corporate practices to provide comprehensive legal services to the firm’s clients.

Some high-profile litigation matters in which Kevin was involved include representing the CEO of a medical device company in a criminal insider trading trial; representing multiple hedge funds in the successful settlement of lawsuits stemming from the Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme; and representing a global toy manufacturer in a multibillion dollar lawsuit against Mattel over the rights to the “Bratz” doll franchise.

Kevin received his bachelor’s degree, magna cum laude, from Duke University and his J.D. from Stanford Law School, with distinction, where he was an editor of the law review.
