David Peyman joins DLA Piper's International Trade practice in Washington, DC
 
DLA Piper announced today that David Peyman has joined the firm’s International Trade practice as of counsel based in Washington, DC.
 
Peyman served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Counter Threat Finance and Sanctions in the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs, a role in which he led the Office of Economic Sanctions Policy and Implementation, managed 25 sanctions programs for the Secretary of State and created the first economic sanctions targeting team at the State Department within his division. He also led the Office of Threat Finance Countermeasures, which combats terrorist financing and the illicit use of precious minerals and metals and coordinates US government interagency implementation of the Kimberly Process. Peyman also served as State Department Deputy Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism with responsibility for BDS, Eurasia & Special Projects.
 
Peyman previously served as a Special Assistant US Attorney and Deputy Attorney General of California and led the sanctions compliance framework for one of the world’s largest asset managers.

Peyman received his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his B.A., summa cum laude, from the University of California, Los Angeles.
