Morrison & Foerster Welcomes Former SEC Litigator Michael D. Birnbaum

Morrison & Foerster, a leading global law firm, announced the addition of Michael D. Birnbaum to their firm. Birnbaum will join as a partner in the New York office’s Securities Litigation, Enforcement and White-Collar Defense Practice Group. Birnbaum was most recently a Senior Trial Counsel with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for eleven years. Prior to that, he spent eight years in private practice.
Co-chair Jordan Eth of the Securities Litigation, Enforcement, and White-Collar Defense Practice Group said, “Michael’s extensive trial and investigations experience will further strengthen our already deep bench of securities and enforcement litigators. Michael brings up-to-the-minute SEC enforcement knowledge and an impressive investigative and enforcement background.”
Birnbaum will work with domestic and foreign financial institutions, corporations, and individuals with regulatory enforcement proceedings, internal and government investigations, and civil securities litigation. He has developed extensive trial experience with cases involving fraudulent securities offerings and registration violations and supervisory failures related to the sale of securities.
Securities Litigation, Enforcement and White-Collar Defense Practice Group Co-chair Joel Haims added, “Michael is the latest in a series of high-profile additions that bring significant government experience to our white collar and investigations practice, particularly on the East Coast.
