Venable Adds Political Law Attorney in Washington D.C.
Summary: Venable’s Washington D.C. office has a new member in their Political Law and Nonprofit practices.
Venable LLP announced the addition of political law attorney James E. Tyrrell III as counsel. Tyrrell will be part of their Political Law and Nonprofit practices in Washington D.C. He joins from another national law firm where he worked with companies, PACs super PACs, trade associations, nonprofit organizations, and state and national party committees.
“Jim adds great experience to our bipartisan political law team and strengthens our ability to help clients with the complex law regulating political spending and public policy engagement,” Lawrence H. Norton, chair of their Government Division, said. “His addition, along with the arrival of two associates who recently joined the Political Law practice, signals our continued growth in this area.”
Tyrrell will focus on complex political law compliance and campaign finance regulation for corporate and political clients. He has experience with federal and state campaign finance laws, lobbying disclosure, pay-to-play law, and government ethics rules. Earlier in his career, he clerked for the Chairman of the Federal Election Commission.
Tyrrell said, “I was drawn to the firm because of the political law team’s national profile and the way the team collaborates with the firm’s other premier graphics, such as nonprofit law and data privacy, to provide a comprehensive approach to client problems.”
Tyrrell earned his J.D. from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.
