The Boston office of DLA Piper has a new partner. Michael Strapp has joined the Intellectual Property & Technology practice from the IP Litigation group at Goodwin Procter.

Strapp will focus his work on litigation and licensing for technology companies. He will advise technology, software, telecommunication, e-commerce, semiconductor, and medical device companies. He has served as the first-chair trial counsel and gone before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Strapp is a thought leader in the industry, lead authoring Protecting and Enforcing Software Innovation: Understanding the Evolving Software-Intellectual Property Landscape and NPE Litigation: A Tactical Guide for Practitioners. Chambers USA ranked him, calling his work on patent infringement issues “excellent” and saying that “his attention to underlying technology impresses clients.” He has been recognized by Super Lawyers and by the National Law Journal as a “Rising Star.”

Strapp earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his B.A. from Columbia University, magna cum laude.
