Opler will be focusing his work on the unique characteristics of liquidity transactions of entrepreneurs. The action of buying and selling businesses owned by entrepreneurs requires a specific concentration to how the relationships often fail. This includes cultural integration, joint ownership, minority owner rights and responsibilities, and performance incentives.

As a former general counsel for an international private equity investor and the co-founder of One Georgia Bank, Opler has developed expansive knowledge of working with public and private companies and private equity firms. Opler has been an M&A lawyer, business founder, in-house lawyer, entrepreneur, investment banker, and accountant. He has over thirty years of experience that will allow him to better serve his clients, which include private equity funds, entrepreneurial buyers and sellers, and strategic acquirers.

Managing partner of the Atlanta office Stuart Johnson said, “Stephen is not only a seasoned and experienced attorney, but also a seasoned accountant and investment banker. The addition of a colleague with his level of experience continues to strengthen what is already a strong transactional bench in our Atlanta office, and illustrates our ongoing commitment to provide practical, business focuses, actionable advice to our clients.”

He is invested in his community, serving as an advisory board member of Kate’s Club. He has served as board members of the Anti-Defamation League, Jewish Family and Career Services, Hands on Atlanta, and The Temple.

Opler received his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Virginia. He has passed the CPA exam and the Series 7 and 63 securities exams.
