Jones Day and Three Other Top Law Firms Named in 'Fearsome Foursome'
Summary: Jones Day has been named one of the "fearsome foursome" firms by BTI Consulting Group.
For the fourth year in a row, Jones Day, a Cleveland-based law firm, has been labeled a "fearsome foursome," Cleveland.com reports. According to BTI Consulting Group's 2016 litigation outlook report, the firm is one of the top four firms opponents dread arguing against because of the firm's "intense approach and fierce tactics."
Jones Day was also named a "litigation powerhouse," the highest possible ranking, in securities and finance litigation. It was named one of the top four firms in intellectual property litigation, and was named a "stand-out" in complex employment litigation and products liability litigation.
BTI Consulting Group commented, "Few law firms can strike fear into the hearts of seasoned General Counsel and legal decision makers. But those able to do so are renowned for their ability to upend business operations, rack up costly bills, and potentially ruin organizational (and sometimes personal) reputations. These are the firms clients tell us they least want to see on the other side of the table in litigation."
BTI Consulting Group based its rankings on interviews with over 4,000 general counsel and other decision-makers over a 15-year time frame. As for the "Fearsome Foursome," BTI asked 300 in-house litigation leaders and general counsel which firms they dreaded seeing most.
Aside from Jones Day, Kirkland & Ellis, Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom were also named in the "Fearsome Foursome" category.
