First Amendment lawyer Floyd Abrams donated $3 million to Yale Law School
Floyd Abrams, one of the country's leading experts in freedom of speech has donated $3 million to Yale Law School to start an institute focused on freedom of speech. At Yale Law School, the Floyd Abrams Institute for Freedom of Expression will promote freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and access to information as informed by the values of democracy and human freedom. The institute will include a law clinic. Students will litigate cases, draft proposed legislation, and advice policymakers regarding freedom of speech and informational access through this clinic. It will also promote First Amendment scholarship and will host conferences on that topic. Abrams is a senior partner at Cahill Gordon & Reindel. He is graduated from Yale Law School and visiting lecturer at Yale Law School and Columbia Law School.
