Father-Son Litigation Entangles Patterson Belknap
Patterson Belknap and former partner Clay Pierce were accused by Eric Hadar, his real estate investment firm Allied Partners, and his family trust for breaching their ethical and fiduciary Belknap assisted Hadar's father, Richard Hadar, in a so-called "bad faith campaign" against the younger Hadar and subsequently damaged his business and the family trust. The current suit against Patterson Belknap, Pierce, and Rosenbaum stimulates counterclaims filed by Eric Hadar against the defendants in 2009 in response to a suit brought by Richard Hadar against his son in New York state court. Eric Hadar's latest complaint seeks suitable compensation for the damage to the complainants' property interests and reputations. The suit also includes claims for civil conspiracy, defamation, malpractice, and malicious prosecution along with a breach of fiduciary duty.
