A bang in Northern California's lateral partner movement
There was thrill in the lateral partner movement in the beginning of this year. In the first half of 2011, almost 158 partners moved out either to join another firm or in-house departments while in the whole 2010 about 165 partners had moved out. Intellectual property and patent litigation, stood first with 57 moves while corporate and securities came in second with 25 moves. This was followed by 18 moves in general litigation and 10 moves each in labor and employment, environmental, and energy. With more reports about a possible double-dip recession to affect the country, the concern about security could re-emerge.
