Sheppard ventured in Beijing with a partner from Squire, Sanders & Dempsey
Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton has expanded its practice in Asia with an opening of its new office in Beijing. It has hired a partner from Squire, Sanders & Dempsey. Chairman emeritus of the American Chamber of Commerce in China, James Zimmerman joined the US firm as a partner. He was associated with Squire Sanders around eight years. Beijing office will focus on multinational corporations and venture capital and private equity firms with interests in China. Two lawyers from the Shanghai office will join Zimmerman. Beijing office is planning to hire more attorneys to make it between 15 and 20 lawyers in the next few years. Sheppard has 10 other offices in US with 530 attorneys.
