Ohio law firm promotes partners
Leading Ohio-based law firm Ulmer & Berne, LLP, has promoted two of its partners, who will now serve as group chairs. Jeffrey S. Dunlap, who will chair the firm's employment and labor group, has a wide range of experience in employment discrimination cases, unfair competition matters, and complex business and securities litigation. John J. Haggerty, who will chair the business litigation group, specializes in complex commercial, product liability, class action litigation, and mass tort cases. Formed in 1908, Ulmer & Berne has 185 attorneys and operates offices throughout the Midwest.

Pepper Hamilton announces a series of promotions
In a major restructuring of its management, Pepper Hamilton, LLP, elected 11 attorneys to serve as partners and three lawyers to serve as of counsel at five of its offices. Nine of the promoted partners were formerly associates, and two were of counsel. All three promoted of counsel were associates at the firm. A 450-attorney, full-service law firm, Pepper Hamilton provides corporate, litigation, and regulatory legal services to major businesses, government entities, nonprofit organizations, and individuals.

Former Denver city attorney and chief of staff joins law firm
Law firm Hogan & Hartson announced that former Denver City Attorney and Chief of Staff to the Mayor Cole Finegan will join the firm as a partner, effective February 1. Finegan began serving as city attorney on October 1, 2003, and took on chief-of-staff responsibilities in July of 2005. He will work to build public-private partnerships with businesses and governmental entities, while applying his knowledge and experience in private practice to the areas of regulatory law, land use and development, and legislative and public policy.

Duane Morris spreads across Asia
Philadelphia-based Duane Morris has recently established a Singapore branch and plans to launch two offices in Vietnam soon. The Singapore office will be headed by New York partner Eduardo Ramos-Gomez, who will now serve as the Singapore managing partner and oversee five new partners. The Vietnam offices are slated to be opened in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Douglas Woloshin, who helped to bolster the firm's presence in Asia, will work as a liaison for the offices in Singapore and Vietnam.

Heller Ehrman ventures into London
U.S. technology law firm Heller Ehrman, LLP, has announced that it will open an office in London—its first European location. The move will enable the firm to expose its corporate, real estate, and competition expertise to global clients. The new office will also boost the firm's Venture Law Group (VLG) brand and enhance its technology practice internationally. Shareholders Brian D. Smith, Edward P. Henneberry, and Stephen C. Ferruolo will initially head the London office, which intends to add 15 to 25 lawyers during 2007. Heller Ehrman has more than 700 attorneys and professionals working in 12 offices across the globe.
