Jenny Van Veen is a Senior Recruiter in our Atlanta office. Upon graduation from Presbyterian College in 1995, Jenny moved to Washington, DC where she worked on Capitol Hill for four years. Jenny spent two years as a Staff Assistant for the Senate Committee on Armed Services and a year as Press Assistant for the late Senator Strom Thurmond. Her final year in Washington was spent as Executive Assistant to Congressman Mark Sanford, now Governor of South Carolina.
Jenny has the unique background of having worked in the Recruiting Department of a large firm prior to becoming a Legal Recruiter. For five years, she was a member of the Professional Development Department in the Atlanta office of one of the most prestigious and respected law firms in the south - Powell Goldstein LLP. Through her role as Recruiting Manager, she became very familiar with all law firms in the market and developed strong relationships with their recruiting professionals. Having placed lateral attorneys for several years, Jenny understands the importance of a focused search and an excellent "fit."
Once Jenny made the decision to become a Legal Recruiter, she tells us the decision on which company to join was an easy one. Having worked with the majority of search firms in the legal area from inside a law firm, it was clear as to which search firm provided outstanding service, consistently presented stellar candidates and most importantly, upheld the ethical standards to which she herself wanted to be associated. After reviewing literally thousands of submissions from recruiters, Jenny knew that BCG truly set "the standard." She knows the value of having a good relationship with an outstanding recruiter and wanted to be that person on the other side of the table.
After just a few short months, Jenny knew her previous experience had prepared her for what she foresees as being a long-term career in Legal Recruiting. She knows exactly what the law firms are looking for and the best way to deal with recruiters within a law firm. Therefore, she is constantly in communication and receiving feedback for her candidates. Since joining BCG, Jenny has not only placed Associates and Partners at all levels, but she has also handled all phases of the process of opening a new satellite office for a firm.
While she is under the Atlanta office, Jenny works the entire southeast and places attorneys in all of the major markets in the area. Having grown up in South Carolina, she has the advantage of having spent a significant amount of time in all of the regions for which she recruits. Therefore, she has the ability to answer questions and provide information not only regarding her region's legal market, but on lifestyle, culture, housing, etc. Jenny is truly a career counselor and possesses the expertise, enthusiasm and sincerity that everyone should look for in their recruiter.

Jenny Van Veen is the only recruiter I trust. Her years of experience in the Atlanta market make her my "go-to" person for job searches, be it for myself or for other colleagues. She understands the market and has invaluable contacts within law firms that give you an edge over other candidates. Her upbeat attitude really makes the job search process easy. I never hesitate to refer candidates to Jenny because I know she will do a phenomenal job.
I sent my resume to BCG because it clearly has the lion's share of the quality positions available in the Southeast, and I could not be more glad that I did. While I was initially skeptical of the value of recruiters, Jenny Van Veen quickly made a great impression on me with her professionalism and responsiveness. Due to her efforts, I received interest and interviews from several firms throughout the Southeast and eventually even turned down a firm that wanted to fly me in for an interview. I had already received enough interest from firms in the city I liked the best. I could not believe how quickly she put me in a position to accept the offer that I wanted to take! Jenny clearly has a great relationship with key people at many of the firms in which I was interested in and I used those relationships to my advantage. I was so impressed that I referred my girlfriend to Jenny, and she has accepted a position that enables us to make the move together. Jenny did an excellent job for both of us and we will both refer any attorneys who ask us about changing jobs to Jenny and BCG.
Prior to contacting BCG, I was "working with" more than one other attorney placement firm, including one that specialized in the area of the country in which I was seeking a job. However, none of the others worked as hard as Jenny from BCG, and none of the others even got me an interview. Within three weeks of contacting BCG, my resume was on the desks of several firms. Within two months, I had a top paying job at a top notch firm in the city in which I wanted to live. If it were not for Jenny, I'd still be looking for a job today.
Jenny is a superior recruiter. She has a great personality and was very honest with my candidacy and opportunities. Jenny returned my calls in a timely manner. Overall, she was very responsive to my needs. I really trusted her with my career and appreciate all the great advice and counsel during this difficult process. I found her to be hard working and would recommend her to anyone looking for a legal position.
I had the pleasure of working with Jenny van Veen in early 2005 and could not have had a better search experience. She was extremely knowledgeable and professional, listening to my particular needs and finding the appropriate firms to match my skills, experience, and interests. I had worked with a different recruiter before and the difference was stark. Jenny clearly put my interests ahead of her own, and was always accessible and responsive. In addition to the foregoing, she is a terrific person with whom to work and is easy to talk to. I have given many friends/colleague's her name and contact information to help them with their own searches. Jenny gave me great opportunities in a very short period of time and I will definitely turn to her again in the future if the need ever arises.
Jenny was an absolute pleasure to work with. I was very nervous and anxious about my move to a new city and new job and she was always there via phone, email, etc. to reassure me and help me stay positive. She was able to get me an interview with an awesome firm in the Charlotte area and really went above and beyond to help prepare me for the interview. Jenny's knowledge about the process, local market, etc was very impressive. If I ever decide to change jobs or have friends who are looking, Jenny is the first name that will come to mind!
