Patent Agent

Job Overview: A law firm in Wilmington, DE, is seeking a Patent Agent to join its team. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Biotech/Chemistry and demonstrate exceptional critical thinking skills, the ability to grasp new technologies rapidly, and strong writing capabilities. Prior experience in patent drafting and prosecution is preferred. Candidates must be registered to practice before the USPTO or be willing to sit for the registration exam.

Job Duties:

• Drafting patent applications by USPTO guidelines.
• Prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and international patent offices.
• Conducting thorough research on various technologies to support patent application drafting and prosecution.
• Collaborating with inventors, attorneys, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for patent filings.
• Reviewing and analyzing patent office actions and preparing responses.
• Providing strategic advice on patent portfolio management and development.

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in Biotech/Chemistry or a related field.
• Strong critical thinking abilities and aptitude for understanding complex technologies.
• Excellent writing skills with attention to detail.
• Preferably some experience in patent drafting and prosecution.
• Registration is required to practice before the USPTO, and willingness to sit for the registration exam is required.

Education:

• Ph.D. in Biotech/Chemistry or related field.

Certifications:
