Job Overview:
A law firm seeks an experienced and highly skilled Employment Litigation & Arbitration Attorney to support its California-based labor and employment practice. This role focuses on representing clients in a variety of employment disputes, including wage and hour claims, discrimination cases, wrongful termination matters, and complex representative actions under PAGA (Private Attorneys General Act).

The firm is particularly interested in attorneys with deep knowledge of California labor law, strong experience managing class action cases, and the ability to navigate both arbitration and court proceedings. This hybrid role is based in Los Angeles, California, with flexibility for remote work and occasional in-person client or team meetings.

Duties:

  • Manage a diverse caseload of employment-related disputes, including wage and hour, FEHA, PAGA, and class action matters.
  • Represent clients in arbitration hearings and court proceedings, presenting arguments, evidence, and legal strategies.
  • Draft and review arbitration agreements to ensure enforceability and compliance with California labor laws, challenging any agreements that raise fairness or enforceability concerns.
  • Advise clients on arbitration rules, strategies, and procedural options under both state and federal guidelines.
  • Negotiate settlements during all phases of the case lifecycle, including pre-arbitration and during proceedings, to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Prepare comprehensive legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and settlement agreements.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to craft strong case strategies tailored to each dispute.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, co-counsel, and clients to manage complex multi-party cases.
  • Stay up to date on changes in employment laws, arbitration standards, and trends impacting California employers.
  • Participate in client consultations, advising on case risks, strategic options, and best practices for dispute resolution.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience practicing employment law in California.
  • Extensive hands-on experience managing class actions and PAGA cases from intake to resolution.
  • Direct experience representing clients in arbitration hearings and mediations.
  • Strong understanding of wage and hour law, FEHA, and class certification processes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Lodestar calculations, fee petitions, and settlement evaluation in the employment context.
  • Effective at independently handling case management responsibilities while contributing to collaborative legal teams.
  • Strong written advocacy and oral argument skills, with attention to detail in legal drafting and presentation.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse client base.
  • Experience advising clients on arbitration processes and agreement enforcement.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar (required).

Skills:

  • Advanced legal research and analytical abilities.
  • Strong written communication and persuasive writing skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and client counseling abilities.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple cases.
  • Fluent in Spanish (preferred, but not required).

Benefits:

  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Employer matching contributions.
  • Comprehensive health insurance.
  • Dental insurance.
  • Life insurance coverage.
  • Paid time off (PTO) and vacation.

Work Location:

  • Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid) — remote flexibility with occasional in-person attendance required.
