A law firm in Nashville is seeking a qualified Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Patent Agent to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess a high level of academic achievement, solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience, superb writing and communication skills, and a degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering. Other engineering disciplines coupled with substantial patent experience with medical devices and/or mechanical products will be considered. Admission to the USPTO is required, and ideal candidates should have 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.

 

Duties:

  • Conducting patent searches and analyzing prior art in the field of medical devices and mechanical engineering.
  • Drafting, filing, and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO.
  • Collaborating with inventors, engineers, and attorneys to gather necessary information for patent applications.
  • Providing legal advice on patent-related matters, including infringement analysis and patentability opinions.
  • Conducting interviews with patent examiners and responding to office actions.
  • Managing and maintaining patent dockets, including deadlines and documentation.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • High level of academic achievement.
  • Solid law firm, engineering, or industry experience.
  • Superb writing and communication skills.

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering.
