Job Overview

A well-established law firm with a strong presence across Michigan is actively seeking a Junior Environmental Associate Attorney to support its Real Estate and Environmental Services practice. This position offers a unique opportunity for a motivated junior-level attorney to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of environmental legal matters, including regulatory compliance, litigation, transactions, and policy engagement. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced attorneys in a collaborative, inclusive, and professionally enriching environment.

Location

  • Lansing, MI

Duties

  • Advise clients on federal, state, and local environmental compliance issues, including:

    • Site remediation

    • Waste management

    • Air emissions

    • Wastewater discharges

    • Chemical use and regulation

  • Conduct legal research and prepare detailed legal memoranda

  • Assist with environmental due diligence in real estate and corporate transactions

  • Support environmental litigation and dispute resolution efforts

  • Interact with government and regulatory agencies on compliance and permitting matters

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of legal experience in environmental law, with exposure to one or more of the following areas:

    • Regulatory law

    • Litigation support

    • Transactional due diligence

    • Environmental policy

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough legal research and draft persuasive documents

  • Admission to practice law in the State of Michigan (required)

  • Cover letter must specify preferred office location

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active membership in the Michigan State Bar

  • In good standing to practice law in Michigan
