Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a detail-oriented Estate Planning Attorney to manage estates, trusts, wills, and elder law cases in the metro Charlotte area. The ideal candidate will be able to collaborate with a team of seasoned elder law attorneys, provide creative legal solutions, and prioritize client service. This role offers an opportunity to work in a fast-growing practice with the chance to make a significant impact in the field of estate and elder law.

Location:

  • Charlotte, NC

Duties:

  • Meet with potential clients to discuss legal services and advise on appropriate actions
  • Draft legal documents, conduct legal research, and organize client meetings
  • Provide personalized legal solutions tailored to clients' needs
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and collaborate with the Client Experience team
  • Accurately track and report time spent on cases
  • Collaborate with other attorneys to enhance the firm's practices
  • Travel to various office locations as needed

Requirements:

  • At least 5-7 years of experience specializing in estate law
  • Active North Carolina law license (dual licensure in South Carolina preferred)
  • CELA certification is a plus
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues and clients
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work
  • Effective communication and sensitivity when dealing with clients
  • Experience in estate planning, trust/estate administration, Medicaid planning, and long-term care benefits
  • Litigation experience in guardianship and estate litigation is desirable
  • Ability to efficiently track and bill time
  • Strong work ethic and initiative to handle tasks independently
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active law license in North Carolina (Required)
  • Dual licensure in South Carolina (Preferred)
  • CELA certification (Preferred)

Skills:

  • Expertise in estate law, including estate planning and trust/estate administration
  • Ability to craft creative legal strategies tailored to client needs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Negotiation skills for resolving estate and guardianship disputes
  • Attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
