Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm with a nationally recognized Private Client and Trusts & Estates group is seeking an experienced Associate or Senior Associate to join its International Estate Planning team. This role involves sophisticated planning for high-net-worth individuals, multinational families, and cross-border wealth structures. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in international tax law, foreign trusts, and pre-immigration and expatriation planning. Location:

  • Stamford, CT

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on international estate and tax planning for U.S. and non-U.S. clients

  • Structure cross-border wealth transfer and asset protection strategies

  • Advise on pre-immigration and expatriation planning

  • Guide non-U.S. clients through U.S. real estate acquisitions and related compliance

  • Address reporting requirements involving foreign trusts, accounts, and business entities

  • Collaborate with attorneys in tax, corporate, and transactional practices

  • Serve as a legal resource for multinational families managing assets across jurisdictions

Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in international estate planning for high-net-worth individuals

  • Proven experience in multi-jurisdictional tax and trust matters

  • Strong client service orientation and professional presence

  • Excellent written and verbal advocacy skills

  • Ability to work independently and within a collaborative team

  • Admitted to practice and in good standing in the applicable U.S. jurisdiction

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active law license in good standing in relevant jurisdiction

  • Additional certifications in tax law or estate planning (preferred, not required)

Skills:

  • Expertise in cross-border estate and tax planning

  • Familiarity with foreign trusts and related U.S. reporting requirements

  • Experience with pre-immigration and expatriation planning strategies

  • In-depth understanding of compliance for foreign accounts and structures

  • Strategic thinker with strong legal research and drafting capabilities

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle complex client needs
