A law firm in Columbia, SC, is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to join their team. The position involves defending employers and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation claims and litigation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Defend employers and insurance carriers in workers’ compensation cases throughout all stages of litigation.
  • Conduct legal research, draft legal documents such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
  • Represent clients at hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials.
  • Provide strategic counsel to clients on workers’ compensation laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with clients, witnesses, experts, and internal team members.
  • Manage case files, ensure compliance with deadlines, and maintain accurate records.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership in good standing in South Carolina.
  • Should have experience practicing law with a focus on workers’ compensation defense.
  • Thorough knowledge of workers’ compensation laws, procedures, and regulations.
  • Strong litigation skills and experience handling complex cases independently.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Trial experience in workers’ compensation cases preferred.
  • Certification or specialization in workers’ compensation law (if applicable).
