Job Overview:

A prominent law firm with a nationally recognized Private Client practice is seeking a highly qualified Associate or Senior Associate with a focus on international estate planning. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience advising high-net-worth individuals and multinational families on cross-border wealth transfer and tax strategies. This position offers the flexibility to work in any of the firm’s U.S. offices with a hybrid remote schedule, and provides opportunities for career advancement within a collaborative and well-resourced legal team.

Location:

  • West Hartford, CT

Duties:

  • Advise on cross-border estate and tax planning for U.S. and non-U.S. clients

  • Structure wealth management strategies that account for multi-jurisdictional tax and legal considerations

  • Counsel clients on foreign trusts, pre-immigration and expatriation planning

  • Assist non-U.S. clients with U.S. real estate investments and related compliance

  • Support high-net-worth families in meeting foreign reporting and tax obligations for international assets

  • Collaborate with attorneys from corporate, tax, and transactional practices to deliver holistic legal solutions

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in international estate planning

  • Strong background in advising clients with global tax and trust structures

  • Demonstrated excellence in technical, client service, and professional competencies

  • Effective communication and advocacy skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Licensed and in good standing in the jurisdiction of intended practice (required)

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in the relevant jurisdiction

  • Additional certifications in international tax or estate planning are advantageous

Skills:

  • Expertise in U.S. and international tax law related to trusts and estates

  • Experience working with multinational families and high-net-worth individuals

  • Proficiency in handling complex legal matters involving compliance and reporting

  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to develop creative legal strategies
