Associate Attorney needed for Phoenix office

Job Title: Litigation And/Or Coverage Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a skilled Litigation And/Or Coverage Attorney to assist in assessing new cases, developing defense strategies, and handling all phases of civil litigation from discovery through trial. The ideal candidate will possess excellent research and writing skills, courtroom and/or deposition experience, and legal software and tools proficiency.

Duties:

• Assessing new cases and assisting in developing a defense strategy
• Helping the senior litigator in handling cases from discovery through arbitration or trial
• Performing research on case law to develop defense theories
• Drafting and responding to pleadings and motions
• Preparing discovery requests and responses based on the specific needs of each case
• Participating in depositions, mediations, arbitration, and trial

Requirements:

• 1-6 years of civil litigation experience in public or private practice
• Currently licensed to practice law in Arizona (preferred), Nevada, or New Mexico with no Bar complaints
• Proficient in Westlaw, Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Detail-oriented with excellent research and writing skills
• Courtroom and/or deposition experience

Education/Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Active license to practice law in Arizona, Nevada, or New Mexico

Skills:

• Strong research and writing skills
• Proficiency in legal software such as Westlaw
• Ability to manage all phases of civil litigation under supervision
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
