Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL, seeks a Senior-Level Energy Associate Attorney to join their team. This position offers the opportunity to represent clients in the rapidly growing renewable energy industry with substantive responsibility and direct client contact. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in various aspects of renewable energy projects, including commercial lending, project financing, leasing, tax credits, and due diligence for complex transactions.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in transactions related to developing, acquiring, and financing renewable energy projects.
  • Provide legal counsel and support throughout project development, construction, and operations phases.
  • Conduct due diligence for complex transactions on behalf of buyers, sellers, or financing parties (debt or equity).
  • Draft and negotiate project development, construction, and operations contracts.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to address legal issues and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years of experience in the renewable energy industry.
  • Experience at a large law firm with a national reputation or comparable in-house counsel role.
  • Strong academic credentials from a top-tier law school.
  • Admission to and membership in good standing with the IL State Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the IL State Bar.

Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
