A Michigan-based law firm is seeking a Junior Environmental Associate to join its Real Estate and Environmental Services practice group. This opportunity is ideal for early-career attorneys who are looking to work on a diverse range of environmental legal matters within a collaborative and dynamic team. The role involves supporting regulatory, litigation, transactional, and policy-related work, with regular client interaction and development-focused mentorship.

Location

Duties

  • Provide counsel to clients on environmental compliance, including:

    • Site remediation

    • Waste management

    • Air emissions

    • Wastewater discharges

    • Chemical regulation

  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda

  • Assist with due diligence in real estate and corporate transactions

  • Support litigation efforts related to environmental matters

  • Engage with government agencies regarding permitting and enforcement issues

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in environmental law, including exposure to:

    • Regulatory frameworks

    • Environmental litigation

    • Policy advisory

    • Transactional support

  • Strong legal research, analytical, and writing capabilities

  • Admission to the Michigan State Bar (required)

  • Cover letter must include preferred office location

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Michigan

  • In good standing with the Michigan State Bar
