Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking a full-time, USPTO-registered Patent Agent with demonstrated experience in preparing and prosecuting software-related patent applications. The successful candidate will join a well-established Electronics & Software team and support clients through high-quality patent prosecution and counseling in cutting-edge technology domains.

Location:

  • Atlanta, GA

Duties:

  • Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in software-related technologies

  • Provide strategic counsel on patent portfolio development

  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to address IP challenges

  • Support due diligence, freedom-to-operate, and patentability analyses

  • Maintain high-quality documentation and client communication

  • Submit required documentation including transcripts and writing samples

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in patent prosecution

  • Must be a USPTO-registered Patent Agent (USPTO Reg. No. required)

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks

  • Experience in technologies such as:

    • Cloud computing

    • Security/encryption

    • Artificial intelligence (AI)

    • Bioinformatics

    • Mobile applications

    • Databases

    • Networking

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in one of the following fields:

    • Computer Engineering

    • Computer Science

    • Electrical Engineering

    • Mathematics

    • Physics

    • Or a related technical discipline

Certifications:

  • USPTO Registration Number (Required)

Skills:

  • Technical expertise in software and computing technologies

  • Exceptional legal writing and analytical skills

  • Strong organizational and time management abilities

  • Client-focused mindset with counseling experience preferred

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment
