A law firm based in Chicago, IL, is actively seeking a dedicated and skilled Workers' Compensation Associate Attorney to join its litigation team. This position offers the opportunity to develop professionally under the guidance of seasoned practitioners, take part in meaningful casework, and eventually build an independent caseload. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in workers' compensation matters and a proactive attitude toward trial advocacy and client service.

Duties

  • Handle a range of workers' compensation matters from inception through resolution

  • Conduct legal research and draft motions, pleadings, and other litigation documents

  • Represent clients during pre-trials, status conferences, arbitrations, and appeals

  • Develop familiarity with medical records and terminology relevant to workplace injuries

  • Participate in case strategy sessions and collaborate on litigation tactics

  • Engage in negotiation and settlement discussions

  • Manage deadlines and reporting requirements in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in a litigation or workers' compensation practice

  • Practical knowledge of Illinois workers' compensation laws and procedural rules

  • Proven ability to manage a docket and adhere to court timelines

  • Commitment to client-focused service and ethical practice

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in Illinois or eligibility for immediate reciprocity

  • Indiana license is a plus
