Birmingham office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks a tax controversy associate attorney with 1-5 years of experience. The candidate will draft internal legal memoranda as well as briefs and other documents for filing with federal courts and federal agencies, including the Internal Revenue Service. Will interact directly with agents and attorneys of the Department of Justice, IRS, other federal agencies, state taxing agencies, and state regulatory bodies. Develop litigation skills through practice in federal district courts, the Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the United States Tax Court. Contribute to a broad range of tax matters, including complex tax planning. Represent public and private companies in tax controversy matters. Support the practice group by performing general research and writing. Should be licensed to practice law in the State of Alabama and be in good standing with the Alabama State Bar (or eligible to become licensed in Alabama).

The candidate should have excellent written communication skills to produce written work in a concise and effective manner. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to clearly communicate advice to clients and colleagues. Strong analytical skills and can offer unique perspectives on complex issues needed. Must be able to prioritize, delegate, and communicate progress on assignments. Should have excellent academic credentials. JD is required.
