Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm seeks a dedicated and dynamic litigation attorney to join its Newport Beach, California, office on a hybrid schedule. This role offers the chance to manage a broad spectrum of disputes—from severe injury and wrongful death claims to construction, contract, and tort matters—while contributing to a collaborative, growth-oriented environment.

Duties

• Oversee case files from start to finish, formulating and implementing legal strategies

• Conduct in-depth research and draft pleadings, motions, and briefs

• Administer discovery processes, including drafting and responding to interrogatories and requests for production

• Take and defend depositions; prepare witnesses for testimony

• Argue motions in court and represent clients at mediations and arbitrations

• Prepare for and participate in trial proceedings, as needed

• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel

• Collaborate with senior attorneys and support staff on case development and trial preparation

Requirements

• Minimum of three years of civil litigation experience, including at least one year defending tort claims

• Proven ability to prepare comprehensive pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and legal briefs

• Comfortable taking and defending depositions, and appearing in court to argue motions

• Experience with mediations and arbitrations; trial participation is highly desirable

• Strong advocacy, negotiation, and client-relations skills, with a results-driven mindset

• Ability to manage a personal caseload independently while contributing to a team-oriented practice

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

• Admission to the State Bar of California (active license in good standing)
