A law firm in Dallas is seeking a Consumer Finance Special Counsel. The candidate will primarily focus on regulatory counseling and drafting related to federal and state consumer lending laws. This role requires significant experience in consumer finance, particularly in advising bank and non-bank financial institutions. Expertise in negotiating contracts, interpreting regulatory requirements, and compliance counseling is essential.

 

Duties:

  • Provide regulatory counseling and drafting services primarily concerning federal and state consumer lending laws.
  • Advise on compliance with regulations including the Truth in Lending Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, and Equal Credit Opportunity Act.
  • Draft contracts and lending documents for consumer and commercial purposes.
  • Interpret licensing requirements and ensure compliance for financial institutions.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and provide guidance to clients accordingly.
  • Conduct research on consumer finance laws and regulations.

 

Requirements:

  • JD from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Active member of the Bar in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant regulatory experience.
  • Significant experience in consumer finance, particularly in compliance counseling.
  • Proficiency in negotiating and drafting contracts.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulatory interpretation.
  • Preferred experience with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • JD from an ABA-approved law school.
  • Active Bar membership in the jurisdiction.

  • Strong understanding of federal and state consumer lending laws.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
