Job Overview:

A downtown Dallas law firm is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join a dynamic practice handling business litigation and transactional matters. This role offers immediate hands-on legal work across a range of cases, including oil and gas, real estate, contract disputes, and shareholder litigation. The firm promotes work-life balance with a flexible schedule and a collaborative environment.

Location:

  • Dallas, TX

Duties:

  • Conduct legal research using Lexis-Nexis for active case files and advisory work

  • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, briefs, contracts, and agreements

  • Support settlement negotiations and provide strategic legal counsel

  • Represent clients in court proceedings with guidance from supervising attorneys

  • Monitor legal developments in oil & gas law and general business law in Texas

  • Maintain records and billing entries using firm software (e.g., Rocket Matter)

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas (active and in good standing)

  • Experience with Texas business law; familiarity with oil & gas law is a plus

  • Legal research proficiency using Lexis-Nexis

  • Prior experience in courtroom advocacy, legal drafting, or negotiation preferred

  • Must be able to work independently and manage assigned caseloads

Education:

  • J.D. Degree from an ABA-accredited institution

Certifications:

  • Active admission to the Texas State Bar

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication

  • Attention to detail and professional judgment

  • Organizational ability to handle diverse caseloads

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research databases

  • Basic knowledge of billing software (e.g., Rocket Matter)
