A law firm in Washington, DC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Attorney with a focus on tax and transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, multistate tax issues, federal, state, and local tax controversies, global transactions, restructurings, as well as private equity and venture capital experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in due diligence reviews, federal and state tax incentives, technical research, tax return compliance, and employee benefits.

 

Duties:

  • Handle complex tax and transactional matters, providing legal advice and guidance.
  • Conduct due diligence reviews and provide strategic recommendations for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Address multistate tax matters and federal, state, and local tax controversies.
  • Represent clients in global transactions, restructurings, private equity, and venture capital matters.
  • Advise on federal and state tax incentives and compliance with tax regulations.
  • Conduct technical research on tax issues and stay current with changes in tax law.
  • Assist clients with employee benefits matters related to taxation.

 

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience in a law firm or clerkship setting.
  • Strong experience in tax and transactional matters, particularly in mergers and acquisitions.
  • Extensive experience representing public and private organizations with local, national, and multinational operations.
  • Prior employment in a law firm environment is highly preferred.
  • Admitted to practice in the state of Pennsylvania.
  • Excellent academic background with a focus on tax law.
  • Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills.

 

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to the bar in the state of Pennsylvania.

 

Skills:

  • Expertise in tax and transactional matters.
  • Proficient in conducting due diligence reviews.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to represent clients in complex tax controversies.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Experience with employee benefits matters.
  • Private equity and venture capital experience is a plus.
