Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Immigration Attorney specializing in humanitarian cases in San Juan, PR. This role offers a promising opportunity for an admitted attorney to gain valuable experience and advance their career within an established firm. The attorney will manage their caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with a team of immigration attorneys and legal assistants.

Duties

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions.
  • Represent individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a workload of U-Visa cases.
  • Conduct intake with detained individuals at centers.
  • Prepare diverse immigration applications, including U-Visa and family-based petitions.
  • Review and adjust immigration applications/packets as necessary.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and community organizations on immigration law changes.
  • Conduct strategic immigration consultations with potential clients.
  • Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements

  • 1 to 4 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Team player open to collaboration and strategizing with associates.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward.
  • Experience with humanitarian applications.
  • Familiarity with case management software preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law.

Skills

  • Strong legal analysis and strategic planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
