A law firm in Redwood City is actively seeking a Junior to Mid-level Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney with 2+ years of experience. The successful candidate will interface directly with counsel and engineers at both established and emerging tech clients, gaining exposure to subject matter areas such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, rockets and space-oriented payload delivery, automation, computer networking, encryption, graphics and animation, and computer gaming/e-sports.

 

Duties:

  • Interface directly with counsel and engineers at tech clients, both established and emerging.
  • Manage and execute patent prosecution and counseling in various technology areas.
  • Provide legal advice on subject matters including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, space technology, automation, and computer networking.
  • Collaborate with patent attorneys and internal teams to develop comprehensive patent strategies.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis related to patent prosecution.
  • Draft and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Member of the Bar in the United States.
  • Undergraduate degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied physics, computer science, or equivalent.
  • Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, or ability to qualify.

 

Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience in patent prosecution and counseling.
  • Technical background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied physics, or computer science.
  • Ability to interface effectively with engineers and clients.
  • Legal research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills.
