Job Overview: A law firm in Nashville, TN, is seeking a skilled Patent Agent with 2-6 years of legal experience, particularly in Intellectual Property (IP) law. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in drafting and patent prosecution, with a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields. Design engineering experience, especially with a chip company, is highly desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in networking, software, 3G/4G/5G wireless network technologies, or similar domains. Additionally, candidates must be admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), while bar licensure in California is considered a plus.

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
  • Conduct patentability and prior art searches.
  • Assist in patent prosecution and portfolio management.
  • Collaborate with inventors and attorneys to understand the technical aspects of inventions.
  • Provide legal and technical support in patent litigation matters.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-6 years of legal experience, preferably in IP law.
  • Strong understanding of patent laws and regulations.
  • Admission to practice before the USPTO.
  • Bar licensure in California (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
