Senior Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney

A law firm in Chicago, IL, seeks a Senior Insurance Coverage Associate Attorney with 7+ years of experience to join its growing practice. The ideal candidate will have expertise in analyzing insurance policies, drafting coverage opinions, handling coverage litigation, and preferably experience in D&O, professional liability, cyber, financial institutions, and/or fidelity and crime insurance matters.

Job Duties:

• Analyze insurance policies to identify coverage issues and provide strategic advice to clients.
• Draft coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and coverage disclaimer letters.
• Handle insurance coverage litigation, including declaratory judgment actions and bad faith claims.
• Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and settlement conferences related to insurance disputes.
• Conduct legal research on insurance coverage issues and stay updated on relevant case law and regulations.
• Collaborate with partners, clients, and experts to develop case strategies and achieve favorable outcomes.
• Mentor and supervise junior associates and legal staff as needed.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a top-tier accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the Illinois Bar.
• 7+ years of experience practicing insurance coverage law, with a focus on D&O, professional liability, cyber, financial institutions, and/or fidelity and crime insurance preferred.
• Superior academic credentials.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent legal research and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office products.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a top-tier accredited law school.
• Active membership in the Illinois Bar.
