Job Overview: A law firm in Washington, DC, is seeking a skilled Renewable Energy Tax Associate Attorney to provide comprehensive tax advice and support to clients engaged in renewable energy transactions. The successful candidate will have a solid background in tax law, particularly in the renewable energy sector, and will assist clients in navigating complex tax issues to ensure compliance and maximize benefits.

Duties:

  • Provide expert tax advice to clients involved in renewable energy transactions, including but not limited to advising on beginning construction requirements, prevailing wage requirements, and apprenticeship requirements under code sections 45 and 48.
  • Assist clients in M&A transactions, tax equity transactions, tax credit transfers, and other joint ventures within the renewable energy sector.
  • Draft and review tax-related documents such as tax equity financing agreements, tax credit transfer agreements, and tax opinion letters.
  • Conduct legal research to stay updated on tax laws, regulations, and precedents relevant to renewable energy transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to address tax-related issues and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements:

  • 3-8 years of experience practicing law in a reputable law firm, focusing on tax law.
  • Proven experience in handling tax credit transactions, tax credit transfers, tax equity financings, and providing tax opinion letters.
  • Excellent academic credentials from a reputable law school.
  • Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations, particularly renewable energy transactions.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Washington, DC Bar or eligibility for admission through reciprocity.
  • LL.M. in Taxation (preferred).
