Workers Compensation Associate Attorney

A law firm is seeking a Worker's Compensation Associate Attorney to join their team in Buffalo, NY. Below is a comprehensive job description:

Job Overview:

The Worker's Compensation Associate Attorney will be responsible for providing legal support in workers’ compensation claims, including file review, legal analysis, research, drafting legal documents, representing clients at hearings, and trial preparation.

Duties:

• Conduct file review and legal analysis of workers’ compensation claims
• Perform extensive legal research and draft various legal documents such as client correspondence, discovery devices, summations, appeals, and appellate briefs
• Maintain an annual billable amount of 1950 hours
• Represent clients at depositions and hearings before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board
• Prepare for trials and attend as necessary
• Retain and evaluate expert witnesses

Requirements:

• Possess 4+ years of experience as a practicing attorney
• Hold a J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
• Admitted to practice in the state of New York; admission in other states is a plus
• Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
• Solid research abilities and excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong work ethic, ability to self-manage, and work effectively in a team environment
• Prompt responsiveness to email and phone inquiries
• Excellent client skills and telephone manner

Education & Certifications:

• J.D. degree from an ABA-approved law school
• Admission to practice law in the state of New York
