Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Experienced Associate Attorney specializing in Workers' Compensation for their Charlotte, NC office. The role involves defending claims against employers across various industries, with support from partners, and requires managing a caseload and representing clients in mediations and hearings.

Duties

  • Handle a caseload and manage deadlines effectively.
  • Conduct depositions of parties, lay witnesses, and experts.
  • Represent clients in mediations and hearings before an administrative commission.
  • Draft briefs, motions, and legal documents.
  • Perform legal analysis on new and existing claims.
  • Investigate cases and review medical records.
  • Develop case strategies and respond to discovery.
  • Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
  • Build relationships with clients, including insurance adjusters and risk managers.

Requirements

  • 3-6 years of experience in Workers' Compensation Defense Litigation.
  • Current license to practice in North Carolina.
  • Strong writing, research, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in depositions and mediations preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently.
  • Organized and self-motivated candidates preferred.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
