A law firm in Miami is seeking a Mid-level Medical Devices and Mechanical Engineering Patent Prosecution Associate Attorney. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in biomedical or mechanical engineering, coupled with significant patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products. The candidate must hold a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and be admitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The position requires a high level of academic achievement, substantial law firm, engineering, or industry experience, and exceptional writing and communication skills.

 

Duties:

  • Conducting patent preparation and prosecution activities related to medical devices and mechanical engineering inventions.
  • Drafting and filing patent applications, responding to office actions, and managing patent portfolios.
  • Conducting legal research and analysis related to patentability, freedom to operate, and infringement issues.
  • Collaborating with inventors, engineers, and clients to understand technical aspects of inventions.

 

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in biomedical or mechanical engineering; other engineering disciplines with substantial patent experience in medical devices and/or mechanical products are acceptable.
  • 3+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • High level of academic achievement.
