Job Overview:

A prominent law firm located in Chicago, IL, is actively seeking a mid-level associate to join its Managed Care Litigation team. This position is designed for a litigation attorney with experience in high-stakes commercial disputes and a strong understanding of the healthcare or managed care sector. The role will focus on managing complex litigation and arbitration matters, serving as a primary case handler, and coordinating across legal teams.

Duties:

• Lead litigation and arbitration matters within the managed care and commercial dispute space

• Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing regular updates and strategic guidance

• Collaborate with junior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff on case preparation and trial readiness

• Draft and review pleadings, discovery, motions, and memoranda

• Attend court hearings, arbitrations, and depositions

• Develop litigation strategies in consultation with senior attorneys and clients

• Maintain active involvement in all phases of litigation, including pre-trial and post-trial proceedings

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of litigation experience, ideally in commercial or healthcare-related matters

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters independently

• Experience acting as a lead or key associate on litigation teams

• Strong organizational, writing, and analytical skills

• Bar membership in Illinois (or eligibility for admission)

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active Bar license in the state of Illinois (or eligibility to waive in)

Skills:

• Proficiency in legal research tools and litigation management software

• Ability to manage client relationships and coordinate multi-party communications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Detail-oriented with a focus on strategic legal problem-solving

• Familiarity with healthcare or managed care legal frameworks is highly desirable
