Litigation Associate - Construction

Job Overview:

A growing business law firm with a strong Midwest presence is seeking a litigation associate with experience in commercial and/or construction litigation to join its Construction Group in the Chicago office. This position offers hands-on litigation responsibilities, active courtroom involvement, and a collaborative team environment designed for attorneys looking to advance in a specialized practice.

Location:

• Chicago, IL

Duties:

• Handle a wide range of litigation tasks in commercial and construction-related matters

• Attend court hearings and status conferences

• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and memoranda

• Manage oral and written discovery

• Participate in trial preparation and active motion practice

• Work closely with team members, clients, and support staff to manage caseload efficiently

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in commercial litigation

• Background in construction law is strongly preferred

• Illinois Bar admission required

• Ability to handle case responsibilities with minimal supervision

• Demonstrated interest in growing a career in litigation

• Strong team player with a collaborative mindset

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois (active and in good standing)

Skills:

• Strong research and writing abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication

• Detail-oriented with sound legal judgment

• Capable of managing multiple priorities under deadlines

• Comfortable using legal research tools and case management systems
