Job Overview

A respected immigration law firm in New York City is seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join its legal team. This role involves representing clients in various immigration matters, including visa applications, permanent residency, and citizenship. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of U.S. immigration law, excellent research and writing skills, and a passion for client advocacy. Location

Duties

  • Represent clients in immigration proceedings before USCIS, EOIR, and other administrative bodies

  • Prepare and file petitions, waivers, applications, and supporting documentation for various immigration benefits

  • Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda, motions, and briefs

  • Attend interviews, hearings, and court appearances as needed

  • Advise clients on immigration options and case strategy

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal support staff to manage caseloads

  • Maintain case files and meet filing deadlines with accuracy and efficiency

Requirements

  • Admission to a U.S. state bar and in good standing

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. immigration law and procedures

  • 1–3 years of experience in immigration law preferred (internships and clinical work may qualify)

  • Ability to manage multiple active cases in a fast-paced environment

  • Willingness to work in person at the New York office

  • Reliable transportation or relocation plans to New York, NY

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active bar license in any U.S. jurisdiction

Skills

  • Excellent legal research and writing skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Exceptional verbal and interpersonal communication skills

  • High attention to detail and organizational efficiency

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a legal team

  • Fluency in a second language is a plus (but not required)
