Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join their dynamic legal team in New York, New York. This remote position requires occasional travel to New York City and other locations for case-related matters. The successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Attorney and a team of paralegals and legal assistants, focusing on humanitarian and family-based immigration cases.

Duties

  • Review and prepare cases in VAWA, T visas, U visas, and Family-Based Petitions.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare responses to RFEs and memoranda.
  • Represent clients in interviews and hearings across the U.S.
  • Prepare clients for interviews, ensuring understanding and confidence.
  • Apply critical thinking to solve complex immigration challenges.
  • Manage caseload and contribute to firm-wide improvements.
  • Identify and address potential legal issues based on evolving policies.
  • Communicate with clarity, empathy, and professionalism.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate and good standing with any State Bar.
  • 9-11 years of legal experience, with at least 3 years in immigration law.
  • Expert knowledge of U.S. immigration law, policy, and procedures.
  • Willingness to travel across the U.S. for client interviews and hearings.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and time management skills.
  • Collaborative, self-motivated, and solution-focused.

Education

  • Juris Doctorate

Certifications

  • Good standing with any State Bar
