Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a Patent Agent with 2-6 years of legal experience, specializing in intellectual property (IP) law, particularly in drafting and patent prosecution. The ideal candidate will have a background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field, with additional experience in design engineering, preferably within a chip company. Candidates with expertise in networking, software, and 3G/4G/5G wireless networks are highly preferred. Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) is necessary, while bar licensure in California is considered advantageous.

Duties:

  • Conducting patentability searches and drafting patent applications.
  • Assisting with patent prosecution, including responding to office actions and conducting examiner interviews.
  • Conducted prior art searches and analyzed technical documents.
  • Collaborating with inventors and attorneys to evaluate inventions and develop IP strategies.
  • Providing technical expertise in patent litigation matters.
  • Conducting IP due diligence for corporate transactions.
  • Keeping abreast of relevant developments in patent law and technology.

Requirements:

  • 2-6 years of legal experience.
  • Specialization in intellectual property law with a focus on drafting and patent prosecution.
  • Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Design engineering experience, preferably with a chip company.
  • Expertise in networking, software, and/or 3G/4G/5G wireless networks is highly desirable.
  • Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bar licensure in California.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:
